For example, they’re really fast, with a top speed of up to 37 miles per hour! And although they can’t go that fast the whole time, they also have great endurance and can easily run five miles or more. These characteristics, along with their ability to get along well with horses, made them the perfect dogs to accompany horse-drawn fire brigades. And to this day, it’s very common to see a dalmatian riding along on a fire truck, although they don’t have as much responsibility as they used to.
